John Angelo Autore, 65, of Sterling Heights, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at his home.

He was born August 21, 1942, to Guy and Mary (nee Fabricino) Autore in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mr. Autore enjoyed family gatherings and loved to cook great food for everyone, friends said. He also loved to golf and fish, and paid close attention to his fantasy sports teams. He has many family members in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, particularly in the Cedarville area.

Mr. Autore enjoyed a career as a successful business entrepreneur with ventures in California, Florida, Chicago, and Detroit. He also spent many years as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He served his country as a specialist in the United States Army for two years, earning an honorable discharge.

He married Barbra Dixon February 9, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Barbra Autore; six children and their families, Bob and Jan Autore, Matt and Kelly Fisher, Mark Fisher, Joe Fisher, Patti Autore, and Jeni Potter; four siblings and their families, Louise McMillan, Mary Jo Gilbert, Guy and Becky Autore Jr., and Tim Autore, and two grandchildren, Nick and Kayla Autore. He is also survived by family members and friends, Kari, Jami, Michael, Mark, and Mary McMillan; Chip and Jeff Autore; Mitchell, Mathew, and Margaret Ordiway; Joseph Autore, and a good friend, Don Hurban.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was Thursday, August 14, at Clark Bailey-Newhouse Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie. Services were Friday August 15, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Sabastian Kavumkal officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
