Wedding
Lauren and Jack McKinnon Lauren Ashley DesArmo and Jack Alexander McKinnon were united in marriage Saturday, May 31, 2008, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cheboygan, with the Reverend George Lewis officiating the double ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Kenneth and Rebecca DesArmo of Cheboygan, John McKinnon of St. Ignace, and Clarlyn Ledy of Moran.
Jackie King and Laura Davis sang an arrangement of "The Prayer." Flutist Cindy Rodriguez and Alan Scott on keyboard provided music for the ceremony.
The bride wore a strapless, fullskirted gown of layered, short-tufted ivory tulle, with a bodice of flowered lace and crystals, a waistlength veil edged with crystal drops and beads, a gold tiara, and long ivory gloves. She carried a bouquet of pink mini calla lilies, cream lilies, and stock tied with gold and sheer cream ribbons.
The bride's sister, Lindsey DesArmo of Grand Rapids, was maid of honor, accompanied by bridesmaids Becca Derris, Emily Pavlich, Holly Martinchek, Casey McKinnon, Laura Davis, and Leah Cameron. They wore satin, cocktail length, strapless fuchsia dresses with matching chiffon trim and bubble hems, and carried cream lilies wrapped with metallic gold ribbon. They wore ivory, wristlength gloves, and haircombs of fuchsia feathers, crystal drops, and tulle.
The groom's best friend, Clifford Hinkens of Florida, served as best man and was accompanied by groomsmen Jonathan Kemling, Andy Krause, Brent DesArmo, Ian Wainio, Bill Marcinak, and Steve Anthony. The bride's cousins, Justin and Brandon Richards, were ushers. They wore black and white pinstriped suits, with the groom wearing a black shirt and fuchsia tie, while the groomsmen wore white shirts and black ties.
The wedding party was transported by Mackinaw Trolley Company to the hor d'oeuvres and dinner reception at St. Anthony's Conference Center in Mackinaw City. The 1920s-inspired reception featured table centerpieces of pearl draped, oversized martini glasses or brandy snifters filled with clear marble "bubbles" and votive candles surrounded by star gazer lilies and fuchsia and white feathers on round gold chargers. Feather boas, black fedoras, and strings of white "pearls" were worn by the wedding party and guests. Musical entertainment was provided by The Coachmen Orchestra from Chesterfield.
The groom is a 2006 graduate of Michigan Technological University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business.
The bride is in her final year at Michigan State University, earning a dual major in journalism and Russian.
Both are currently employed by Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry for the summer, and will reside in East Lansing in the fall.
