Daughter, Father Win Championships at Munoscong Golf Club

Chelsey O'Connor won the women's crown and her father, Barry O'Connor, the men's title during championships at the Munoscong Golf Club Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17.

In the championship flight, Chelsey O'Connor fired a 36-hole score of 192 and Renae Reich won low net with 129. Teresa Weimer was low net with 151 in the first flight, Paulette Belair low gross with 204, and Carol Evans low net with 149 in the second flight.

In the men's championship flight, Barry O'Connor recorded a 36-hole score of 149 and Denny Smith low net with 134, Jon Clegg was low net with 146 in the first flight, Rich Cottle low gross with 162, and Doug Ramatz low net with 154 in the second flight.

Men's Senior Tourney

Al Kantola carded 150 for low net to win the senior division, and Michael McKinney low net with 134 in the first flight. Stu Myers had 164 for low gross and Bob McHaney 138 for low net in the second flight, Bob Massongill 172 for low gross and Dino Candido 132 for low net in the third flight, and Rex Shanafelt 204 for low gross and Louis Head 149 for low net.

Munoscong Golf News

Rich Cottle fired an ace on hole 11 Tuesday, August 19, at the Munoscong Golf Club. He used a seven iron from 152 yards out while playing with partners Matt Romatz and Al Boal.

Munoscong Ladies Day Golf League

Dorothy McDowell carded low gross with 46 and low net with 38 in the first flight of the Munoscong Ladies Day Golf League Thursday, August 20.

Paulette Belair recorded 50 for low gross and Phyllis Baxter 35 for low net in the second flight, Ione Barber 53 for low gross and Carol Evans 35 for low net in the third flight, and Joyce Alley 54 for low gross and Gladys Baxter 27 for low net in the fourth flight.

Special Events: Rosemary Pinnell registered low putts with 11, had the closest chip on hole seven, and lowest total of putts, and Carol Evans and Ione Barber shared the most sevens.

Munoscong Mixed Doubles Golf League

The foursome of Ken and Madison Wilkie and Ed DeWitt and Dorothy McDowell took first place in the Munoscong Mixed Doubles Golf League, after carding a score of 30 with 12 putts Friday, August 22.

The team of Arvid and Theora Hamilton and Roy and Judy Hamilton recorded 32 with eight putts to finish second, and the group of Denny Smith and Cindy Harrison and Doug and Ann Romatz registered the highest score on odd holes with 17.

Special Events: Gary Kop made the longest putt on hole 10, Brian Lander closest to the pin with tee shot on hole 11 and closest to the pin with tee shot on hole 16, Paulette Belair closest to the pin with second shot (eagle) on hole 13, and Horace Baxter had three chip ins on holes 16,17, and 18.
