Four St. Ignace youths, Jon Ruegg, Shane Spring, Corey Swope, and Raleigh Harrington, used the new paintball course for the first time on the property of LaSalle High School Saturday, August 23.
"This has been a three-year project and today, we saw that all the hard work pay off," said adult supervisor Phil Ruegg. The course is a project of the St. Ignace Paintball Association.
Eight poles were put into place and netting was hung during the last two weeks. Black and gold bunkers for players to hide behind during competition were inflated and placed throughout the course, which measures 200 feet by 125 feet. The course is on school property that the St. Ignace school administration and board of education approved.
Paintball tournaments for fiveperson teams will take place at the course Saturdays, September 6, September 20, and October 4.
