A Mixed Martial Arts Tournament was hosted Saturday, August 16, in Rudyard, by the Straits Area Tae Kwon Do Academy, Mutt MMA, and Rudyard Lions Club.

Joe Pine of Rudyard won the kickboxing and submission-wrestling matches. Luke Wood of Rudyard posted a win in kickboxing. Steve Miliron and Blair Mills of Mackinaw City won in kickboxing. A wrestling match between Dillian King of Kinross and Nate Seager of Kincheloe ended in a draw. Joe Dixon of St. Ignace lost his submission match to a competitor from Sault Ste. Marie. Joni Audrey of Rudyard was awarded the Brown Belt in kickboxing by Jamie Stelmaszek, coordinator for Straits Area Tae Kwon Do.

The next mixed martial arts tournament will be Saturday, September 20, at Alpena.
