Hello, everyone. It won't be long now for the fall color show to begin. There have been some hints of color peeking through already on a few maple trees. The cool weather that autumn brings isn't welcome, but the vivid colors of the leaves are fabulous. Engadine and Gould City have plenty of country roads to travel to see color, and many lakes mirror the fall colors on their surfaces.

Nicole Butkovich, daughter of Cathy and Carl Butkovich of Engadine, was graduated August 1 from Lake Superior State University, as a licensed practical nurse. She also received a $500 scholarship from the I-500 parking committee. Several family members were present to see Nicole accept her certificate.

A Self Defense and Corporate Staff Security Program will feature training from law enforcement, public safety, and police academy training officers. The two-hour class will be Thursday, September 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newberry Elks Lodge. Cost is $5 per person. Instructors will present tips on vehicle safety, home security, physical defense tactics, attack-deterrent behaviors, stalking, and date rape drugs. Nicole Butkovich Luce-Mackinac Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, September 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the Engadine School Library.
