Britney Cornwellof Pickford will go to California to compete for the National All American Miss title. Britney, 12, won the State Ambassador for the National American Miss in July.
There were 30,000 girls applying for the state level. Seventyseven girls were selected for competition in Britney's class age, where she took first place. The National American Miss prepares young ladies to become the next leaders in America. The competition includes a scholarship program.
She is the daughter of Chad and Nicole Cornwell, and sister to Dustin. Mr. Cornwell works at the quarry, which is called Carmeuse Limestone now, and her mother works at Cedar Cove. The entire family will accompany Britney to California, where they will go as a group to Disneyland. They are looking forward to attending a Disney Character picnic, touring Hollywood, going to a Thanksgiving banquet. Miss Cornwell will do a lot of rehearsing and competition.
National level competition will select a queen, from one representative from each state. Then the State Cover Girl, State Ambassador, which is Miss Cornwell, and each state's four runners-up will compete for National All American Miss. This winner will be chosen one out of 300.

She said she is grateful to all of the sponsors in the Pickford area for their support, as well as the money and purchases of baked goods that she sold as a fundraiser at Cedarville Foods last Saturday. The baked goods were made by both of her grandparents, Nancy Cornwell, and Peggy Dutcher, Karen Spencer, and her mother. The title National All American Miss includes each of the following divisions: talent, photogenic, casual wear, spokesmodel, miss actress, most promising model, academic achievement, national scrapbook, art contest, best thank you note, best resume, miss spirit, miss personality, most tickets sold, poise and presentation in formal wear, on stage personal introduction, personality during the interview, community involvement, and golden achievement in service award.
Abagail Van Luven waiting to enter the speed and action class at the Chippewa County Fair in Kinross Sunday, August 31. She is the daughter of Ken and Ann Marie Van Luven. Don and Carol Zanderbergen were in Pickford this week. They own the old Robert Fick farm on Rutledge Road, where they spend most of the summer. There are approximately 785 acres of pastureland on the farm for his 350 to 400 cattle to graze. Don said that the grass is very plentiful this year, as opposed to the past few years. Don and Carol live in Caledonia.
Many 4-H participants won from Pickford at the Chippewa County fair this year, making Pickford residents proud of each and every one of the members of the Noah's Ark 4-H Club. There will be a listing of all of the winners in an upcoming issue.
