The Birge Nature Preserve seeks volunteers to build a new trail Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the preserve west of Hessel.
Volunteers will be clearing vegetation, branches, logs, and rocks from a two-mile, pre-determined trail corridor.
Participants will meet along the shoulder of Point Brulee Road about one-half mile south of M- 134. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, sturdy boots, insect repellent, lunch, and hand tools.
Those interested in volunteering can contact Doug at Little Traverse Conservancy at (231) 347-0991.
