The Cedarville Trojans football team recorded four touchdowns in the first quarter and cruised to a 51-7 non-conference decision over Posen, posting the first career varsity win for Coach Scott Barr Friday, August 29.

"We executed well and played a balanced game on offense and defense," said Coach Barr.

Zach McFarland opened the scoring on a 39-yard run at 10:12 for a 6-0 lead. Adam Dingman recovered the Vikings fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Thirteen seconds later, C.J. Paquin and Tyler Anderson combined on a 24-yard scoring pass, and Andrew Figures kicked the extra point for a 13-0 advantage.

McFarland scored his second touchdown on a 15-yard pass from Paquin at 6:33, and the junior running back added the two-point conversion to increase the lead to 21-0. At the 4:00 mark of the first quarter, Luke Murray scored from 39 yards out to build the lead to 27-0.

Anderson, one of four Trojans players from DeTour High School, intercepted the Posen pass and returned the pigskin 35 yards for the touchdown. McFarland notched the two-point conversion for a 35-0 margin.

Andrew Jaroche Cedarville Andrew Jaroche Cedarville Murray scored his second touchdown late in the second quarter on a 20-yard pass from Paquin, and Wade Autore caught the twopoint conversion pass to give the Trojans a 43-0 halftime lead.

Posen scored its touchdown in the third quarter before Jordan Huff closed out the scoring for Cedarville with a three-yard run. The senior added the two-point conversion.

Second Half Effort Lifts

Bulldogs Over Rams

Rudyard scored four second half touchdowns to open the gridiron season with a 38-20 non-conference win over Harbor Springs Friday, August 29.

"We played much better in the second half, especially on offense," said Bulldogs Coach Pat Maloney. "We need to cut down on the little mistakes."

The first quarter was scoreless before the host Rams took a 8-0 lead, but with 1:30 left in the second quarter, Arik Hesselink scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak and the senior added the two-point conversion to send the game into halftime tied at 8.

Brady Burby dashed 75 yards on the first play from scrimmage in the second half. Hesselink tallied the conversion for a 16-8 lead. In the third quarter, Jacob McMillan scored from seven yards out and combined with Hesselink for the two-point conversion pass to extend the Bulldogs lead to 24-8.

Rudyard and Harbor Springs scored two touchdowns each in the fourth quarter as McMillan answered from the three-yard line and Justin LaCoursiere rambled 45 yards to close out the Bulldogs offense.
