Cedarville Downs Engadine For First League Victory
C.J. Paquin Cedarville Senior C.J. Paquin tallied 497 combined yards of passing, rushing, and punt and interception returns to lead Cedarville to a 51-6 Mid-Eastern Football League home win over Engadine Friday, September 5.
"We played well as a team and Engadine played tough," said Trojans Coach Scott Barr. "Everyone contributed on offense and defense and that will be the key our success this year."
Paquin passed for 193 yards, rushed for 55 yards, made 148 yards on punt returns, and had 101 interception yards.
Cedarville, 2-0 on the season, took a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter after Paquin and Tyler Anderson combined on a 16-yard scoring pass, Zach McFarland rushed from eight yards out, and Andrew Figures kicked on an extra point.
The Trojans increased their lead to 19-0 on a Paquin 55-yard punt return, but with 2:16 left in the first half, Phillip Hood scored for the Eagles on a five-yard run, to cut the Cedarville lead to 19-6 at halftime.
Cedarville built the margin to 43-6 after three quarters as McFarland scored his second touchdown on an 10-yard run, Paquin returned an interception 101 yards for a score, Paquin and Luke Murray hooked up on a 87- yard scoring strike, and McFarland added three, two-point conversions.
Luke Murray Cedarville The Trojans closed out the scoring on an Anderson five-yard run and Murray completed the twopoint conversion pass to Taylor Smith.
The Eagles were inside the Trojans 15-yard line twice in the first half, and the 20-yard line once in the second half.

Panthers Shut Out Bays 50-0
Pickford's offense rolled up 50 points and 362 yards of offense and the Panthers defense held Brimley to minus 15 yards rushing and 32 yards passing en route to a 50-0 shut-out win over the Bays during a Mid-Eastern Football League contest Friday, September 5.
Pickford racked up three touchdowns in the first quarter, two in the second, and two in the third quarter during its first home game of the season.
Michael Sawyer Engadine The Panthers took the opening kickoff and on the fifth play from scrimmage, Michael Cantin dashed 40 yards for the touchdown and a 6-0 lead.
Pickford took advantage of a bad snap from center on a fourth down punt formation, and five plays later, McKinley Portice and Cantin combined on a 10-yard scoring pass and Portice and Dylan Rye hooked up for the two-point conversion pass, and a 14-0 lead.
The Panthers increased their lead to 36-0 at halftime after Cantin scored his second rushing touchdown from 44 yards out, Josh Kibble added a four yard rushing score, Rye scored on a five-yard run, and Portice completed two-point conversion passes to Zach Mortinsen and Cantin.
Pickford closed out the scoring with two third-quarter touchdowns as Shawn Rader scored from five yards out, Portice answered from the three-yard line, and Cody Beck chipped in one two-point conversion.

Bulldogs Tame Tigers 40-0
The Rudyard football team, 2-0 on the season, posted a 40-0 nonconference shut-out home win over Hillman Friday, September 5.
The Bulldogs and Tigers battled to a scoreless tie after the first quarter before Rudyard scored three touchdowns to take a 20- 0-halftime lead.
Brady Burby scored two touchdowns on runs of 22 and 56 yards, Mitchell Wilson and Arik Hesselink combined on a 25- yard scoring pass, and Hesselink and Jared Clark completed the twopoint conversion pass.
Tyler Kauffman Pickford Burby scored his third touchdown on a 12-yard run, Clark answered from 58 yards out, and Hesselink and Daine Pavolski hooked up for the two point conversion pass to take a 34-0 lead into the fourth quarter, before Ben Gable returned the fumble four yards for the Bulldogs final touchdown.

Hornets Fall to Cardinals
The Pellston football team fell to 0-2 in the Ski Valley Conference after a 48-6 league setback at the hands of Johannesburg-Lewiston Friday, September 5.
The Cardinals led 12-0 after the first quarter and held an 18-0 margin before the Hornets scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Josh Schmalzried to Dylan Darrow to cut the margin to 18-6.
Pellston was driving late in the first half for scoring opportunity, before a turnover led to a fourth touchdown for the Cardinals and a 24-6 halftime lead.
Johannesburg-Lewiston added four second-half touchdowns to close out the league win.
