V. 'Janet' Beckwith
V. "Janet" Beckwith, 84, a longtime Engadine resident, died at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Born January 6, 1924, she was a daughter in the large family of Lois and Emma (nee Marcus) Wagner.
Mrs. Beckwith attended Engadine Schools.
In September 1956, she married Jack Beckwith in Bowling Green, Ohio, and then they made their home in the Detroit area. She was employed for more than 24 years at Federal Mogul Bower Roller Bearing in Detroit, until her retirement in the early 1980s.
Following Mr. Beckwith's retirement in 1987, they returned to Engadine.
Mrs. Beckwith enjoyed cooking and baking, and tending her flower gardens. She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Engadine.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, of Engadine, a daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Eric Barry of Riverside, California, four siblings and their families, Martha and Marvin Dyer of Clinton Township, Marion and Edward Lesatz and Irma Lesatz, all of Engadine, and Fred and Joanne Wagner of Ferndale.
Mrs. Beckwith was preceded in death by eight siblings, Carl, Edward, Henry, and Albert Wagner, and Alma Wagner, Bertha Meisner, Ethel Henschel, and Arlene Hahn.
Friends may call at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Engadine Thursday, September 18, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Arthur Bode officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Engadine.
Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family with arrangements.
