Mackinac Island Sweeps Paradise in Soccer

Mackinac Island Lakers co-ed soccer team swept Paradise 8-0 Friday, September 12, and 8-1 Saturday, September 13, during a road Northern Lights League match-up.

"Everyone played and contributed in some way," said Lakers Coach Mary Patay. "I was pleased with the effort of everybody."

Robert Chambers scored three goals and added one assist in the win on Friday, while Kate Dupre, Austin Ruddle, Anthony Rickley, Diane Dupre, and Fuller Cowell tallied single goals, and Tyler Cherwonka and Dillon Deloof chipped in assists. Paul Fisher and Leo Horn shared time in goal and posted the shut out.

Seven players scored Saturday, led by Robert Chambers with two goals and one assist, while Anthony Rickley, Tyler Cherwonka, Kate Dupre, Thomas Rilenge, Tymon Horn, and Collin Armstrong added single goals, Paul Fisher recorded two assists, and Michi Mullings notched an assist. Tyler McLean earned the win in goal.

The Lakers will host Northwest Academy of Charlevoix Wednesday, September 17, and travel to Hannahville to face the Soaring Eagles in a weekend series Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20.
