Rexton-Garnet
This fall the great temperatures, blue sky, and sunshine are giving way to great Friday night football weather, sweatshirts, and hot cocoa, along with cheering on the home team. The shadows lengthen as the players on the golf course try to absorb what is left of an enjoyable season. All too soon, it passes.
Here for a few days from their everyday homestead in Wisconsin were Wayne and Barb Riley, whose getaway residence is in the far corner of Rexton.
The sounds of barking dogs and pickups traveling the back roads attest to the bear season in progress. Just outside of Gilchrist, near the tracks at the curves, my husband, Dave, saw a bear waiting to cross, so bears are in the neighborhood. He guessed it weighed between 250 and 300 pounds.
Bill and Tim Darknell made a trip to Missouri to see their son and brother, Mitch, who was headed for duty in Iraq.
Having enjoyed a month with her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Lester Livermore, Elnora Crockett of Willis returned home in preparation for winter.
Welcome to the neighborhood to Sherry Formolo and family, who will reside in the former Leon Patterson home.
New blacktop has been put down on Hiawatha Trail from just past the old county garage, to near the CC Camp road.
Enjoying a few days visiting with family, Karen Livermore traveled downstate to pick up her mother, Opal Underhill, and sister-in-law, Sandy Underhill, before traveling to her brother, Bill's, where they enjoyed a graduation party for her nephew, Robert Underhill.
