The congregation dedicated the steeple Sunday, August 31, following worship.

The steeple is a good way to identify this building as a church to visitors in the community, said Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey, pointing out that one couple in church August 31 said they had come to this church because they saw the steeple from the ferry while returning from Mackinac Island.

The steeple was donated by Geri Hetsler in memory of her sister, Carol L'Huillier. Ms. Hetsler is a member of the Sorenson family, one of the founding families of the church in 1907.

"The steeple was a way to show glory to God," said Ms. Hetsler. She gave a short thank you at the dedication and talked about how much this community means to her.

Rick Weiss and his crew raised the steeple Thursday, August 21.

Brian Olsen and Kirt Stage- Harvey also worked on the project.
