St. Ignace Cruises to a 62-29 Non-League Win Over Rogers City Hurons
The Saints' Austin St. Louis (11) returns a punt 55 yards for the touchdown with the help from blocks by Anthony Lester (7), John Evashevski (32), and James Halberg (61). St. Ignace exploded for 41 firsthalf points and cruised to a 62-29 non-conference win over Rogers City at Saints Field Friday, September 19.
"I was pleased with our overall play, especially the blocking up front," said Saints Coach Marty Spencer. "On defense, everyone stepped up and played well."
The Saints, 4-0 on the season, scored touchdowns on six of their first seven possessions and five players scored to build a 41-15 halftime lead.
Gerrit Mortensen and Rob Robinson connected on a 35-yard scoring pass, and Mortensen added the extra point kick, for a 7-0 lead at the 10:16 mark.
Two minutes later, Austin St. Louis returned a Hurons punt 55 yards for the touchdown and a 14-0 advantage.
The Saints and Hurons combined for six touchdowns during the remainder of the first half as Robinson scored on runs of four and six yards, Mortensen scrambled for a 19-yard touchdown, and Anthony Lester hauled in a 30-yard scoring pass from Mortensen.

St. Ignace added two early thirdquarter touchdowns as St. Louis dashed 35 yards for the score and, following a Tyler Mapes pass interception for 42 yards, the senior plunged over from the two-yard line to build the Saints' lead to 55- 15.
Rogers City scored on a Fairbanks five-yard run. Justin Idalski and Ben Tulgestke combined on a 42-yard scoring pass and Robinson completed the scoring with his third touchdown on a 24-yard run.

Senior Tyler Oja intercepted four passes during the St. Ignace 37-25 non-conference win over East Jordan at Saints Field Friday, September5.
Oja's four interceptions are, as far as present and former coaches can remember, and according to recent records, the most in school history.
One interception was returned for a touchdown, the second pick was in the end zone to end a Red Devil scoring opportunity, and two of his interceptions led to Saints touchdowns
