Balanced Offense, Defense Lifts Cedarville to 41- 0 Conference Win Over Rapid River

Paul Eberts Paul Eberts Cedarville used a balanced performance on offense and defense to shut out Rapid River 41-0 in a Mid-Eastern Football League game Friday, September 19, improving its record to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

"This was truly a balanced effort," said Trojans Coach Scott Barr. "We are excited about our play and our execution. We distributed very well on both sides of the football."

The Trojans scored 41 points in the first half and the second half was played with a running clock after a 35-point lead was established.

Cedarville opened scoring at 7:32 of the first quarter on a C.J. Paquin to Paul Eberts 20-yard scoring pass. Andrew Figures kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

Zach McFarlane scored from 12 yards at the 1:36 mark and, with 20 seconds left in the first quarter, Tyler Anderson stripped the ball and rambled 25 yards for the touchdown. Mc- Farlane added one two-point conversion for a 21-0 advantage.

The Trojans answered with three second-quarter touchdowns. Anderson and Paquin combined on a 41-yard scoring pass, Paquin returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown, Luke Murray and Paquin hooked up on a 18-yard scoring pass, and McFarlane made one two-point conversion to extend the lead to 41-0 at halftime.

Trojans defensive statistics: Zach McFarlane, seven tackles; Paul Eberts, Luke Murray, five tackles, one pass interception; Josh Wilson, Adam Dingman, five tackles; Tyler Anderson, four tackles, two fumble recoveries; Alex McMaken, Jordan Huff, four tackles.

The Trojans will travel to Brimley Friday, September 26, to take on the Bays.

Zach McFarlane Zach McFarlane Cedarville will host their annual homecoming game Friday, October 3, when they entertain Bark River-Harris during a Mid- Eastern Football League contest.
