Cedarville Sweeps Engadine in EUPC Volleyball

Cedarville swept Engadine 25- 16, 25-14, and 25-12 during an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference volleyball match at John Duncan Gymnasium in Cedarville Thursday, September 18.

"The girls played well as a team," said Trojans Coach Kathy Trevarrow. "Everyone contributed to the league win."

Trojans statistics: Kacie Simpson, nine aces, five kills; Billie McLeod, two aces, nine kills; Jillian Collins, 16 assists, three aces; Jessie Duncan, two aces, four kills; Jenna Arnold, one ace, seven kills.

Eagles statistics: Kayla Miller, eight assists, one kill, one dig; Elisa Hobbs, eight kills, three digs, one block kill; Lauren MacArthur, three kills, three digs; Kacie Rutledge, three assists, two digs; Leah Blanchard, one ace, one kill, two digs; Shannon Browning, three digs, one ace; Lynzee Bigelow, two kills.

Trojans 5-5 at Gwinn Tourney

Cedarville finished with a 5-5 overall mark at the Gwinn Invitational Saturday, September 20.

The Trojans defeated Engadine 25-21 and 25-22, Superior Central 25-18 and 25-10, split with Chassell 23-25 and 25-14, but fell to Calumet 16-25 and 11-25 and the host Modeltowners 13-25 and 17- 25.

Trojans statistics: Billie McLeod, 21 kills, four block kills, two aces; Jillan Collins, 32 assists, one ace; Kacie Simpson, seven kills; Jenna Arnold, 10 kills, four aces; Jessie Duncan, six kills, one ace.

Engadine statistics from the tourney were not available.

Eagles Sweep

Bulldogs, Panthers

Engadine varsity volleyball team swept Rudyard 25-19 and 25-18 and Pickford 25-18 and 25-22 during non-conference play Tuesday, September 16.

"The girls are really starting to play well as a team and I am seeing improvement in every match," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller. "We served 92% as a team. We are making progress."

Eagles statistics: Lauren Mac- Arthur, 100% in serving, two aces, seven kills; Kayla Miller, 100% in serving, one ace, three kills, 12 assists; Shannon Browning, nine digs, three aces, one kill; Leah Blanchard, six kills, two block kills; Elisa Hobbs, 15 kills, four block kills, one ace; Kacie Rutledge, four kills, four assists; Lynzee Bigelow, three kills.

Bulldogs statistics: Amarais Dolly, 27 digs; Betsey Wileman, 11 kills, six block kills; Emily Jeffreys, 16 kills, four block kills, 13 digs; Leah Wallis, 14 assists; Liz Schroeder, 100% in serving, four digs.

Bulldogs at Charlevoix Invite

Rudyard finished with a 3-9 overall record at the Charlevoix Invitational Saturday, September 20.

Bulldogs statistics: Amaris Dolly, 48 digs; Emily Jeffresy, 16 aces, 11 kills, 15 digs, three block kills; Betsy Wileman, 14 kills; Leah Wallis, 16 assists.

Saints To Host Invitational

St. Ignace will host its annual invitational Saturday, September 27, at the middle school, with matches scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Teams from Escanaba, Cheboygan, Pickford, Manistique, Sault Ste. Marie, Rudyard, Engadine, Cedarville, Inland Lakes, and the host Saints will compete during the day-long event.
