The bricks will be engraved with the names of donors contributing to the hospital's $3 million fundraising campaign.

Donors can request up to three lines of 16 letters each for a $50 contribution. The bricks can be inscribed with a donor's name or made in memory of or in honor of an individual.

Sales of the bricks have already begun. Arlene Black of St. Ignace said she appreciates the idea and purchased a brick rather than sending flowers when a friend recently died.

The hospital foundation also is offering a $5 reusable cloth bag made from recycled products as a fundraiser.

A donor program also is offered. Each donation level recognizes contributors, ranging from a catalog of gifts to a plaque and portrait in a selected room of the new facility. Hospital supporters give from $1 to $249, sustainers contribute between $250 and $999, patrons donate from $1,000 to $4,999, guardians give between $5,000 and $9,999, and partners donate $10,000 or more.

The hospital has raised approximately $500,000 since the campaign began in July 2007.

Those interested in purchasing a brick, bag, or to make a donation can visit the hospital on Burdette Street for more information, or call Shannon Doran, hospital administrative assistant, at 643-0456.
