Cooler temperatures are coming into the area. The tree color is spectacular in many places.

Our tomato bushes have many "almost ripe" tomatoes on them and I hope we can rescue them before it gets too cold.

I received an e-mail this week from a happy young fisherman by the name of Derek Burger. Derek caught this beautiful pike last week while fishing with his father. The pike weighed just over 11 pounds and was 35 inches long. It was caught in Muskie Bay between the #10 can and the Birches.

Derek, 9, is a fourth grade student at Les Cheneaux schools. He is the son of Rob and Joni Burger of Hill Island in Cedarville. It's always a pleasure to write about these fishing stories; it encourages fishermen from other places to come and try their luck.

Bow season for deer has begun and also the opening day of duck season. One can always recognize that first day of duck season, as guns start booming at daylight. If there are any lucky bow hunters out there, please let me know.

There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Community Center Tuesday, October 14, from noon to 5:45 p.m.

It's fun to drive around and look at the decorations.

Good wishes to Margaret and Ed Pavey, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. It seems to me that the 50 year anniversary celebrants are getting younger and younger.

The Cedar Post Thrift Shop on M-134 is asking for donations of macaroni and cheese to help fill their food shelves for those in need.
