The Engadine volleyball team will be taking on the Cedarville volleyball team, while raising money for breast cancer research. The fundraiser will be Thursday, October 23, at 6 p.m. at Engadine High School. There will be raffles, a bake sale, and an information table about breast cancer.

The Portage Players will have a meeting Thursday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Erickson Cultural Center. Those interested in acting or helping with plays and upcoming productions may call (906) 586- 6384 for more information.

The Newberry Elks Lodge will have a steak fry Thursday, October 16.

The Gould City Eagles will have a fish fry Friday, October 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the club.

The General Federated Women's Club of Newberry will meet at Weber's Rustic Inn Tuesday, October 21, at 11 a.m. for their annual membership luncheon. Margaret Goldthorpe will speak about her international travels. Terry Sovey, president of the district club, Sandy Sogens, second vice-president, and Pam Ebens, membership chairman, will be their guests at this meeting. Members are to inform Phyllis Overhiser if they are bringing a guest.

The cancer support group in Newberry is on hold until further notice, owing to family illness.

The Gould City Eagles reported a wonderful turnout Saturday, October 11, for the pig roast.

It's hard to believe it has been one year ago, October 15, that our mom passed away. Not a day goes by without thinking of her. Spending time with family means so much, especially as we get older. Re- member to take time with your family. Make wonderful memories now, and when you get older, you will be glad you did.
