A three-week ditching project that used excavating equipment to clear the south edge of US-2 of encroaching lakeshore sand will end Friday, October 17.
The Michigan Department of Transportation's Dave Rausch said the $146,000 ditching project involved 1.56 miles of roadside in three locations in a 4.1 mile stretch extending east from the U.S. Forest Service campground near the Sand Dunes area, west of St. Ignace.
Five workers and four pieces of earth-moving equipment were involved.
