Jacqueline Leapley
Jacqueline Rae Leapley, 34, of Bay Mills, died Sunday morning, October 12, 2008, in a car accident.
She was a member of the Bay Mills Indian Community and a 1992 graduate of Brimley Area Schools, where she was vice president of her class.
Miss Leapley received many individual honors as a high school volleyball and basketball player. She loved participating in sports and continued her love of the game by coaching girls high school volleyball in Brimley, where she was a coach for three years, two of them as varsity head coach. She had the opportunity to coach her younger sister, Candice.
After coaching, she continued to make herself available to the team for assistance and advice.
Miss Leapley attended Bay Mills Community College.
She enjoyed watching her children participate in sporting events, playing in softball tournaments, going camping with friends, attending family gatherings, and listening to music. Bob Seger was her favorite musician. She enjoyed taking pictures with family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Albert LeBlanc III, Cameron Elizabeth Michelle, and Jolie Rae; parents Chuck and Penny Leapley of Bay Mills; grandmother Marie Cameron of Bay Mills; three sisters and their families, Beth and Brian Hill of Brimley, Candice Leapley of Bay Mills, Kim Leapley and Fred Wiser of Cedarville; three brothers and their families, Charlie Leapley of Bay Mills, Alphonse and Bunnie Leapley of Taylor, and Anthony and Camie Leapley of Bay Mills; 15 nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
Miss Leapley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Harold Cameron Sr.; grandparents Harold and Margaret Leapley; four uncles, Ronald, Ray, and Richard Leapley, and Aaron Bill Cameron Sr.; a cousin, Dennis Cameron; and a special friend and cousin, Bill Cameron.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, with parish prayers at 8 p.m. A service will be Thursday, October 16, at 11 a.m. at the church, with Father Ted Brodeur officiating.
Interment will be in Mission Hill Cemetery.
