Engadine Volleyball To Host Breast Cancer Awareness Rally October 23
Kayla Miller Engadine The Engadine Eagles varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams will host the Cedarville Trojans Thursday, October 23, and the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference teams will participate in the Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally that will begin at 6 p.m.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has granted teams permission to set aside their traditional uniforms, allowing them to wear pink T-shirts for the event. Each player will secure a sponsor for her Dig Pink shorts, which they may dedicate in honor or memory of a loved one who has battled cancer.
Fundraising activities that will take place include T-shirt sales, raffles, and a bake sale, hosted by the Engadine junior high volleyball teams.
The pink and white game ball will be auctioned off and signed by the team of the winning bidders' choice.
Organizers are encouraging spectators to dress in pink. Those who do will be entered into a raffle for a special prize.

Eagles Sweep Indians The Engadine Eagles swept the Newberry Indians in three games (25-9, 25-10, 25- 9) during a nonc onference match Monday, October 6.
Leah Blanchard Engadine The Eagles improved to 18- 9-1 overall.

The Engadine Eagles dropped an Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference match to the Brimley Bays in five games (18-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 13-15) Thursday, October 9.
"It is tough to lose a conference match on your home court," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller. "I was pleased with our improvement at the serving line."

Rudyard recorded a 4-4 record at the Escanaba Invitational Saturday, October 11. The Bulldogs defeated Marquette in two games (25-22, 25- 13), split with Ishpeming (18-25, 25-20) and Negaunee (16-25, 25- 17), and lost to Gladstone (16-25, 18-25).

Katia Locke Rudyard Mackinac Island 10-2 During
Lakers Invite Mackinac Island finished with a 10-2 overall record during Lakers Invitational Volleyball Invitational, which was won by the DeTour Raiders at Mackinac Island Saturday, October 11.
The Lakers swept Vanderbilt, Paradise, Northern Michigan Christian Academy (NMCA), and Maplewood Baptist Academy in two games, split with DeTour for a 9-1 mark in pool play, and split with NMCA in the semifinal match.
DeTour won the championship, followed by NMCA, Mackinac Island, and Beaver Island.
The Lakers will host a tri- match with Hannahville and Beaver Island Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1.
