Carol Bell (right), owner of Cedars of Mackinac Landscaping, said she will begin working on the design of next summer's garden in December to ensure she gets new plant introductions and the flowers she wants, as growers begin planting some seeds in January. Each year, she varies the design of the city's gardens and introduces new plants, which is why people see flowers that are not familiar. As she worked on the flower bed Wednesday, October 23, she said, "I'm sad to take the plants out, but I'm looking forward to next year."
