The Moran Township school board, meeting Monday, October 20, approved Gros Cap School's 2008-2009 budget of $1,058,972 and agreed also to raise substitute teacher daily pay by $10 to $90 and support staff hourly wages by 25¢ to $9.50.
In other matters, Nicole Brown was sworn as the newest school board member. She was appointed last month to replace Ed Radecki, who resigned because his children no longer attend the school. She will have to stand for election in May to fill the rest of Mr. Radecki's term, which expires in 2010.
Ms. Brown has two daughters and operates a consulting firm called Northern Quality Solutions in St. Ignace.
