Eligible Area Residents Need To Sign Up for Food Assistance Programs
Area residents who may be eligible for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) must sign up for a new program card to receive food for distribution. All cards issued before September are now expired.
New commodity cards will be issued at the following locations and dates. All senior housing re-certification information will be posted at each location.
Mackinac County
Cedarville, Clark Township Hall - November 5, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
St. Ignace, Community Action Agency - November 6, November 7, and November 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Chippewa County Brimley Superior Township Hall - November 7, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Detour Township Hall - November 12, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Drummond Island - November 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pickford Township Hall - November 14, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Raber Township Hall - November 17, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Rudyard Community Center - November 13, 10 a.m. to noon
Kinross at Rudyard Community Center - November 13, 10 a.m. to noon
Sugar Island at Community Action starting November 13 Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sault Ste. Marie - Cards for the Sault Ste. Marie area can be issued starting November 13, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Community Action Agency central office.
Luce County
Curtis Portage Township Hall - November 11, 10 a.m. to noon
Engadine, Garfield Township Hall - November 6, 10 a.m. to noon
Newberry, Community Action Agency - November 3, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; November 7 and November 10, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; November 17, November 18, and November 19, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Paradise Whitefish Township Hall - November 13, noon to 1 p.m.
Newberry, Parkview Manor - November 11, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Applicants must show proof of residence and proof of total household income (including pensions, interest earning, unemployment or disability payment, and welfare benefits). Applicants must also meet the following income guidelines to be eligible:

•Single and younger than 60 years of age - $13,520 annually. (For each additional household member younger than 60 years of age, add $4,680.)
•Single and 60 years of age and older - $16,640 annually. (For each additional household member over 60 years of age, add $5,760.)
For the Commodity Supplemental Food Program
•60 years of age or older $13,520 annually. (For each additional household member 60 years of age or older, add $4,680.)
If requested, commodity cards issued to senior citizens or handicapped individuals may be specially marked so a friend or relative can pick up the food for the cardholder.
