Seth Tamlyn Seth Tamlyn Seth Tamlyn, 19, of St. Ignace, died Tuesday evening, October 28, 2008, at a friend's apartment in Moran Township, as the result of a gunshot wound.

He was born December 19, 1988, in Cheboygan to Steven and JoAnne (nee Kompsi) Tamlyn.

Mr. Tamlyn was graduated from LaSalle High School in May 2007. During his school years, he worked at Doc Holle Silver Mountain Ski Hill. In the summers, he worked for Gamble Roofing and Gough Riding Stable on Mackinac Island.

Last winter, Mr. Tamlyn worked for Ryba Marine on the new expansion of Mackinac Island Marina. He currently worked for Jason St. Onge on Mackinac Island as a painter and drywaller.

Mr. Tamlyn enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and staying on Bois Blanc Island with his grandfather, Joe Kompsi.

He is survived by his father, Steven Tamlyn of St. Ignace; his mother, JoAnne Kompsi-Tamlyn of Cedarville; a sister, Sierra, at home; grandparents Margaret Tamlyn of St. Ignace, Joe and Rosemary Kompsi of Mackinac Island and St. Ignace, Sue and Dr. Bill Chambers of Mackinac Island, and a special friend, Amber Petersen of Mackinac Island. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mr. Tamlyn was preceded in death by his grandfather, Norman "Chickie" Tamlyn of St. Ignace, in 1990.

Friends called Sunday, November 2, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace. Mass of Christian burial was Monday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church with Father Allen Mott officiating, assisted by Father Jim Williams, Deacon Don Olmstead, and Deacon Tom McClelland.

Pallbearers were Jack Perault, Nathan Tamlyn, Robbie Sayles, Landon Snyder, Eric Cowell, and Darcy Brodeur-Bunker.

Burial will be at Ste. Anne's Cemetery on Mackinac Island.

Memorials may be directed to the Mackinac Island Fire Department, with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home.
