John Hood
John Hood, 78, of Caffey, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Helen Joy Newberry Hospital, after a six-month illness.
He was born in Munising, May 20, 1930, to Ellis and Gertrude (nee Lewis) Hood. He was one of 16 children.
Mr. Hood married Bernice Struble May 10, 1958, in Trout Lake.
He had been a woodsman all of his life and most recently worked in the woods at age 77 last summer. He loved music, and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Eagles #3701 in Newberry.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bernice; four children and their families, Alice and Tony Martis of Rexton, Howard and Cheryl Hood of Caffey, William and Kim Hood of Newberry, and Ellis Hood of Rexton; three brothers, Lloyd in Texas, Ellis in Rexton, and Kenneth in Munising; two sisters, Lucille Hood of Constantine, and Helen Browning of Garnet; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday, November 1, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace. Services followed at 4 p.m. with Deacon Don Olmstead officiating.
Burial will be in Epoufette Cemetery.
