The anticipated match-up between the veterans of Division 8, the Cedarville Trojans, against the newcomers on the block, the St. Ignace Saints, is set for a district championship game Friday, November 7, at Saints Field, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Trojans have advanced to the Division 8 playoffs during the last five consecutive seasons, compiling a 43-9 overall record on the way, while the Saints are in Division 8 for the first time in school history.

Before divisional play, St. Ignace competed in the Class D playoffs in 1983.

Thirty-five miles separate the communities of Cedarville and St. Ignace and it has been since 1951 that the teams have battle on the gridiron. That contest ended in a 19-19 tie.

The strengths of both teams are very similar, with offenses that can score at any time combined with hard hitting defenses.
