Engadine-Gould City
Hello, everyone. Looking outside early Monday morning, we saw the ground was covered with snow, and the cold temperature even made our dogs turn back when I opened the door.
Engadine has lost three wonderful residents within the past couple of weeks, and they will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each family and their friends during this difficult time.
Longtime Engadine resident Otto Flatt, 93, passed away Sunday, October 26, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. His obituary was printed in The St. Ignace News October 30.
Lloyd Boucha, 90, a lifelong Engadine resident, passed away Sunday, November 2. His obituary was printed in The St. Ignace News November 6.
Joseph Moulton, 52, of Engadine, passed away Friday evening, November 7, in Engadine. Joe was employed as a mechanic at Middleton Towing, and will be missed by many. His obituary is printed this week.
The McMillan United Methodist Church is sponsoring a hunters supper Friday, November 14, at 4 p.m. at the Columbus Township Hall. Cost is $8 for the all-you-can-eat dinner.
The 19th annual Newberry Christmas craft show and bazaar will be Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newberry Community Building auditorium, with crafts, holiday decorations, jewelry, baked goods, art work, antiques, and collectibles. Table rental is available by calling (906) 293-5621. A 50/50 cash raffle will also be held to benefit the Luce County Emergency Food Pantry.
The Hulbert American Legion will have its annual hunters dinner Saturday, November 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost is $8 per person. There also will be karaoke at 8 p.m.
The diabetic support group will meet Monday, November 17, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Huron Conference Room at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Lunch will be provided. The topic will be diabetes awareness, presented by Lynn Kihm.
The Gould City Eagles will have a fish fry Friday, November 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy music by the Mudhole Band, starting at 7:30 p.m. Banjo Bob will be at the Gould City Eagles Saturday, November 22, at 6 p.m. The club is open to the public.
The United Methodist Church, on Highway M-117 just north of Engadine, welcomes everyone to a free meal on the second Wednesday of each month. The meal is served from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. For questions, call Greg Krause at (906) 477-6537 or the church at (906) 477-1011.
