Barbara Ann DeGrandt, 52, of Curtis, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at her residence with her husband by her side, following an illness of cancer.

Born January 15, 1956 in Cass City, she was the daughter of Leroy and Patricia (nee Brown) Rooney.

Mrs. DeGrandt was a longtime resident of Bad Axe. She was a homemaker and member of the Free Methodist Church in Bad Axe.

Mrs. DeGrandt and her husband, Randall, have been residents of Curtis for the past year.

Her interests included the outdoors and horseback riding.

She is survived by her husband; four children and their families, Melissa and Roger Wykes of Worchester, Massachusetts, Jessica and Donald Lumsden of Gould City, Cynthia and Daniel Clarey of Midland, and Rebecca DeGrandt of Bad Axe; grandchildren Elizabeth, Andrew, Ryan, Justin, Thomas, and Jonathan; her father, Leroy Rooney of Bad Axe, and her mother-in-law, Elaine DeGrandt of Bad Axe.

She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Catherine.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at a later date.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family with arrangements.
