Lottie Pokryfke
Lottie Julia Pokryfke, 87, formerly of Raber, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008, in Grand Rapids.
She was born July 31, 1921, in Detroit, to Karl and Stella V. (nee Wasilowski) Ygeal. She lived most of her life in Stalwart and Raber.
She married Anthony A. Pokryfke October 23, 1937 in Goetzville. In addition to caring for her home and family, Mrs. Pokryfke worked as a nurses' aide at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie and as a waitress at Raber Bay Bar and Restaurant. For the past 10 years, she has lived in the Grand Rapids area near her son.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville and the Altar Society at the church, AmVets Auxiliary Post 79 in Raber, and the Raber Senior Citizens Club.
Mrs. Pokryfke is survived by her son, Joseph Pokryfke of Kentwood; two sisters, Sophie Elliott of Bay City, and Caroline Hank of Goetzville; one brother and his family, Michael and Joanne Ygeal of Livonia, and one sister-in-law, Rita Ygeal of Linwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony Pokryfke; a sister, Antoinette Ryktarsyk, and two brothers, John Ygeal and Stanley Ygeal.
Visitation was held Friday, November 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, November 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church with Father Frank Lenz celebrant. Burial was at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
