Saints, Bulldogs Defeated by Inland Lakes

The St. Ignace Saints volleyball season came to an end after the Inland Lakes Bulldogs won a bestof five match play, four games to one, during a Class C district semifinals Saturday, November 8, at Newberry High School.
The Bulldogs won the first match 25-14, but struggled in the second match, losing 23-25, before taking the next two matches to clinch the victory of the Saints, 25-20 and 25- 12.
In three of four matches, the Saints faced large deficits early, as Inland Lakes held 7-1 and 14-5 leads in the first match.
In the second contest, the Saints bounced back and took their first lead after Christi Therrian served three consecutive service points to take a 10-8 edge. The match stayed close before Brooke Allan closed out the game with two positive serves.
In the third match, Inland Lakes jumped out to a 9-3 lead, but the serving of Amanda Coveyou lifted the Saints to a 12-12 score. The remainder of the match stayed tight until the Bulldogs closed out the game with four straight points.
Emily Sposito In the final match, the Bulldogs led from the start to the finish and advanced to the championship match against Harbor Springs.

Rudyard Defeated by
Inland Lakes
Inland Lakes, on its way to the championship match with Harbor Springs, defeated the Rudyard Bulldogs in three games (25-21, 25- 18, 25-20) along the way, in the Class C quarterfinals Thursday, November 6.
Rudyard statistics: Emily Jeffreys, five aces, nine kills, nine digs; Betsey Wileman, nine digs, five kills, Amaris Dolly, four aces, 93% serving, Katia Locke, seven assists, Leah Wallis, six assists.
Rudyard Down Emeralds Rudyard Bulldogs defeated Manistique 25-21, 25-11, 25-11 during Senior Night Tuesday, October 28.
Seniors Katia Locke, Becky Wielman, Amaris Dolly, and Erin Watson were honored before the game.
Rudyard finished the season with a 15-23-12 overall record.
