Local Teens Attend U.P. Youth Conference at NMU

Youth from Chippewa and Mackinac counties attended the U.P. Youth Conference at Northern Michigan University in Marquette October 28, with Melanie MacDowell and Heidi Gibbons, both of LMAS District Health Department. Youth attended workshops entitled "Getting parents more involved," "What is a natural high," "Underage drinking," and "Self Defense and violence prevention for women." Students are working on a plan to use some of the ideas and activities from this conference in their own community.
