Engadine Falls to CFFP in Regional Volleyball Finals

Kayla Miller Kayla Miller The Engadine Eagles fell to the Crystal Falls-Forest Park Trojans in four games in the Class D regional finals at Bark River-Harris Thursday, November 13, having advanced to the finals with a three-game sweep of the Baraga Vikings Tuesday, November 11.

The Eagles fell to the Trojans 17- 25 in the first game, rebounded in the second with a 25-21 win, but lost the next two, 16-25, and 22-25, to end the series.

In the semifinals sweep against the Vikings, the Eagles won 25-16, 28-26, and 25-19.

"We struggled getting into a rhythm against the Trojans in the first match, but picked up it up in the second game," said Eagles Coach Kathy Miller. "Both teams played scrappy defense. We're disappointed, but we had a great season and I am proud of the way these girls played as a team all year long."

Seniors who played their last games with the Eagles include Lauren MacArthur and Shannon Browning.

Engadine completed their successful season with a 31-11-1 overall record and won the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference with a 6-2 mark.

Cedarville Falls in Regional

Semifinals to Onaway

The Cedarville Trojans fell to the Onaway Cardinals in a four-game set in the Class D regionals at Johannesburg-Lewiston Tuesday, November 11.

The Trojans lost the first game 16-25, but managed to win the second, 25-17, before bowing out in the last two games, 10-25, and 10-25.

Trojans statistics: Billie McLeod, nine kills, three blocks; Jillian Collins, 14 assists, two aces; Kacie Simpson, six kills, two aces one block kill; Ashley Sweeney, two kills, one block; Jenna Arnold, two kills, two aces.
