Richard Briolat
Richard Briolat Richard P. Briolat, 70, of St. Ignace, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, November 20, 2008, while blowing snow in his driveway.
He was born June 19, 1938, in Detroit to Casimer E. and Rose (nee Smith) Briolat and was graduated from East Commerce High School in Detroit.
Mr. Briolat worked for Bell Telephone for 33.5 years and was an installation foreman and repair foreman in St. Ignace, Newberry, and Sault Ste. Marie. He also spent much time on Mackinac Island with the phone system.
He loved bowling, and bowled for more than 30 years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge #999.
He married Nancy Ziskie September 25, 1957 in Detroit and the couple moved to the St. Ignace area in 1975 from Warren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Briolat is survived by four sons and their families, Edward and Vickie of Pee Ridge, Arkansas, John of Tucson, Arizona, Robert and Penny of Harpursville, New York, and Rick and Alison of Lebanon, Ohio; a daughter and her family, Michelle and David Licari of Chesterfield Township; two brothers and their families, Chester and Edna of Roseville and Robert of Farmington Hills; a sister, Betty Gayeski of Richmond; 12 grandchildren, and one greatgrandson. He also is survived by a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Casimer, and Arthur.
A Moose Lodge memorial service will be at noon Saturday, November 29.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Timothy Dumas officiating.
Cremation will follow services, and his ashes will be buried in Carp River Cemetery, which is next to his home.
