Les Cheneaux
Thanksgiving Day is behind us once again. This holiday season, more than ever, we can't forget the many families who do not have all of the things that many of us enjoy. Sharing our blessings is what the season is all about.
We had a real touch of winter last weekend with lots of snow and low temperatures, but the roads were clear and the weather good for students and relatives who traveled home for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Christmas activities have begun. Lovely lighted Christmas trees are lining the shelves and counter tops at the Les Cheneaux Historical Museum. The trees, all decorated by volunteers for the silent auction, are original and fun to see.
Michelle Niergarth of Hessel, who works at Lakeside Hair Design in Hessel, told of a threepoint buck that she shot the first day of deer season. I'm sure she was the envy of many hunters that day.
After reading in the Les Cheneaux News column in The St. Ignace News about the art show in Palm Desert, California, in which Roger Heuck had a painting of Dollar Island, Allen and Janice Williams of Cedarville, who were near the area, drove to Palm Desert to surprise Roger and Rho Heuck. They had a nice visit.

There were carolers, cookies, and even Santa Claus arriving in a wooden boat. What a fun time for everyone. The annual pre-school Christmas bazaar took place Saturday at the school, and drew lots of people.
A tree lighting is planned at Cedar Cove in Cedarville Sunday, December 7, at 7 p.m. It is open to the public.
