Police are seeking owners of stolen property recovered following an arrest in Kinross, and they are also seeking information from people who may have bought merchandise from the man who was arrested.

John Carnes, 44, of Kinross, was arrested by the Chippewa County Sheriff on several counts of receiving and concealing stolen property and was arraigned Thursday, November 6, in 91st District Court. He is a suspect in several burglaries in Chippewa County. A large amount of stolen property was recovered, valued at several thousands of dollars. Deputies believe Mr. Carnes sold a lot of stolen property to people, including generators, chainsaws, and off road vehicles.

The sheriff's office is trying to determine the owners of the stolen property recovered. Anyone who has bought items from Mr. Carnes in the past couple of months is asked to call the sheriff's office. Anyone who is a victim of a theft, particularly related to hunting camps, fishing, camping, and tools, is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Mike Bitnar of the Chippewa County Sheriff's office at (906) 635-6387.
