Mac - kinac is absolutely sparkling under the fresh blanket of snow. The Christmas lights glow through the falling flakes, making a beautiful Christmas scene. Mackinac will truly have a white Christmas, for the first time in several years. The Island is a winter wonderland. More ... "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Christmas is here, and it's a time for family gatherings and a time for giving. This is one of my favorite times, when we gather around the tree and reflect on the past year, as we hand out our gifts. It is also a time to see family members we haven't seen for awhile, to spend time with each other, and enjoy each moment. More ... Monday evening, December 15, Trinity Lutheran Church held a farewell dinner in honor of Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey, her husband, Kurt, and their children, Hannah, Sophie, and Elijah, as they prepare to move further north, to Juneau, Alaska, to serve the Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church. Forty parishioners, along with friends, enjoyed a wonderful dinner of Swiss venison. More ... This week finds our little town of Engadine saddened by the passing of Larry McEvers, who died Wednesday, December 17. His obituary is printed in this issue of the newspaper. Please keep his wife, Flora, children, and many friends in your prayers. More ... Mother Nature seems to be throwing all sorts of weather at us, just to see what we can handle. We in the Upper Peninsula are hardy souls. Pastor Tim Miller and his family will be traveling over the holidays.
