Cedarville Trojans Boys, Girls Undefeated Going Into Holiday Break

The Cedarville Trojans boys basketball team is 4-0 at the holiday break, following a 76-35 Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference win over the Engadine Eagles Thursday, December 18, and 80-34 win against the Rogers City Hurons during a non-league contest Tuesday, December 16.

Trojans 76, Engadine 35

The Trojans struggled with their outside shooting in the first quarter, connecting on one shot from beyond 12 feet, but held a 15- 12 scoring edge after the first eight minutes before Cedarville's perimeter scoring heated up with five triples, outscoring Engadine 25-12 in the second quarter for a 40-24 halftime advantage.

"I was pleased with our effort for the first 12 minutes, but Cedarville has too many offensive weapons," said Eagles Coach Elmer Albright.

Cedarville outscored Engadine 21-5 in the third quarter and completed the league contest with a 15-6 scoring run.

The Eagles, who are 1-1 overall and in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference, will be off for the holiday break. They host Big Bay de Noc Monday, January 5, and travel to DeTour Friday, January 9.

Cedarville 80, Rogers City 34 In the home game against the Hurons, Cedarville led 56-16 at halftime and outscored Rogers City 24-18 in the second half.

Cedarville, 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, will travel to Rudyard and battle the Bulldogs Monday, January 5, and entertain Brimley Friday, January 9.

McLeod, Duncan Combine For 59 Points in Trojans' Win vs. Hurons

Seniors Billie McLeod and Jessica Duncan combined for 59 points to lead the Cedarville Trojans to an 80-24 non-conference win over the Rogers City Hurons Tuesday, December 16.

The Trojans led 48-12 at halftime and outscored the Hurons 32- 12 in the second half to post the road win

Trojans, Eagles SAC Match-up To Be Rescheduled

The Cedarville Trojans and Engadine Eagles girls basketball game that was scheduled for Friday, December 19, has been postponed owing to the death of Mary Beth Paquin, the Trojans' assistant coach and sister of Head Coach Sonja Duncan.

Ms. Paquin passed away Thursday, December 18, in the early morning. An obituary is published in this week's issue.

No date has been set for a makeup game.
