All Skill Levels Welcome for North Country Trail Hike Sat.

The Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will offer a National Winter Trails Day hiking outing Saturday, January 12, at 10 a.m. Participants will meet at the Rock Bottom Grill parking lot in Moran. Participants will hike between Worth Road and M-123. Hikers of all ages and skill levels are welcome.

The chapter will provide leaders for hikes of varying lengths and vehicle spotting if needed. There will also be prizes and free hot chocolate for all hikers. Hikers should dress for the weather, and prepare for some low, wet areas of the trail, and bring snacks and water.

Hikes around the Eastern Upper Peninsula are sponsored by the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore Chapter every second Saturday of the month.

People can also join the chapter, which holds meets the third Thursday of the month, at 6:30 p.m., at KC's Dugout Restaurant in Rudyard. Visitors are always welcome.

Upcoming events include a meeting at 6:30 p.m. January 17, and the organization's annual dinner February 9. A work crew event will be offered in mid-May.
