Mackinac County Commission Plans for 2008; Liaison Assignments Made

Setting committee appointments, making department liaison assignments, and changing the time of their bi-monthly meetings were decisions made by Mackinac County commissioners during their annual organizational meeting Wednesday, January 2. The board re-elected Dawn Nelson as its chair and Carl Frazier as vicechair.

Commissioners will continue to meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, although rather than continuing with the 3:30 p.m. meeting time, the board now will gather at 6 p.m.

The change, say commissioners, was made to accommodate working residents who may want to attend public meetings.

Commissioners also increased mileage reimbursement to 50.5¢ a mile, up from 48.5¢.

The following liaison assignments with county departments were made: animal control and animal shelter, Mike Patrick and Calvin McPhee; airport, Dawn Nelson; building and grounds, Carl Frazier; county clerk, Larry Leveille; emergency services coordinator, Calvin McPhee; 911 coordinator, Larry Leveille; Equalization Department, Dawn Nelson;

Michigan State University Extension, Mike Patrick; prosecutor's office, Carl Frazier; Register of Deeds office, Dawn Nelson; treasurer's office, Calvin McPhee; Road Commission, Carl Frazier; surveyor's office, Mike Patrick; Sheriff's Department, Larry Leveille and Calvin McPhee; veterans office, Carl Frazier; Probate, District, and Circuit Courts, full board; Friend of the Court office, Dawn Nelson; juvenile office, Mike Patrick, and custodian's office, Calvin McPhee.
