Mackinaw City Winterfest To Be Held January 17-19

There will be no shortage of activities at the 15th annual Mackinaw City Winterfest, which will proceed with or without snow, from noon Thursday, January 17, through Saturday, January 19.

Activities include amateur and professional snow carving, outhouse races, sleigh rides, a poker walk, a chili cook-off, outdoor ice skating, a euchre tournament, an ice-fishing tournament at Carp Lake, and games for children, teenagers, and adults.

Most activities are free with a $2 Winterfest button. They can be purchased at the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce winter office in Mackinaw Crossings, businesses in town, and at each event site. The buttons will be numbered, and participants with certain numbers can win prizes of $2 to $20.

Winning numbers will be posted during the event at the Winterfest sound trailer, the Chamber office, the Ice Fishing Contest, and the Pancake Chef Restaurant. Prizes must be claimed by Friday, January 25.

Games will be adjusted according to weather conditions, the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce reports, except for snow sculpting and ice fishing, which may be canceled if conditions prevent them.
