Although it was announced by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians January 7 that Dan Grondin of St. Ignace had been appointed the interim chief of tribal police, Mr. Grondin did not, in fact, accept that position, and it remains vacant, Cory Wilson of the tribal communications department told The St. Ignace News January 11. The appointment was announced by the tribe while Mr. Grondin was on vacation. The appointment was reported on page 3 of the January 10 issue.
