Students Complete DARE Classes at Les Cheneaux

Les Cheneaux Elementary School's fifth grade students participated in Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) culmination exercises in December. The 23 students were taught by State Police Trooper Fred Strich (standing behind students at far left); participants include (back row, from left) Teddy Bowlby, Isabel Brumleve, Marcus Malkowski, Kaylee Risher, Cynthia Barowski, Brett Masuga, Tanner Reppenhagen, DARE teddy bear donors Harold and Sally Kriesche of St. Ignace, teacher Kathy Tassier; (front row, kneeling) Dylan Mathews, Joey Duncan, Paige Kanitz, Morgan St. Andrew, Sarah Harrison-Briggs, Maddie Kohlmann, River Brown, Molly Fagan, Shannon Sayles, and Monica Krackowski. Fifth grade students who were not available for the photograph include Hannah Betzoldt, Alexandra Cabello, Serena Currie, Joshua Lee, Cordell Schalk, and Ashley Sherlund. Students who won the essay contest are Isabel Brumleve, Paige Kanitz, Monica Krackowski, and Dylan Mathews. The 2007 Spirit Award went to Joey Duncan. Maddison Kohlmann and Marcus Malkowski were chosen to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
