Raymond VanZoeren

Raymond E. VanZoeren, 91, of Lakefield Township, was a U.S. Army World War II veteran who had also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Van- Zoeren died Saturday afternoon, January 5, 2008, at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart.

He was born March 15, 1916, in Grand Rapids to John and Nellie (nee Terpstra) VanZoeren.

He was a 1934 graduate of Lee High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.

He enjoyed a career working in security with the state of Michigan.

Mr. VanZoeren married Kathleen Postma October 14, 1939.

He was a member of the Curtis Baptist Church and his interests included reading, especially his Bible, hunting, and fishing.

Mr. VanZoeren is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children and their families, Judith of Grand Rapids, Raymond and Linda of Hart, Kathleen of Mount Pleasant, and Andrew and Brenda of Hart; five grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; his siblings, Harold and Dorothy, both of Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Allan, Maurice, Roger, Marian, and Marlene.

A funeral was held Wednesday, January 9, at noon at the Curtis Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dave Chambers officiating.

Burial will be at East Lakefield Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Curtis Baptist Church.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry assisted the family with arrangements.
