Sharon Shaw and family hosted a baby shower for Kay Marie Van Luven Saturday, January 12, at Pickford Town Hall. Levi Van Luven was born December 10, 2007, to Kenneth and Kay Marie Van Luven.
There were approximately 30 people present for the shower. All who attended enjoyed lots of good food, games, and a great time.
Mrs. Van Luven and her son received a large number of gifts that will be helpful in the next six months.
Among those present were grandmothers Sharon Shaw and Joann Fick, and the baby's greatgrandmothers, Kathy Thorn, Diane Eddington, and Audrey Hutchison.
Local musicians gathered for a jam session Saturday, January 26, at Main Street Café in Pickford from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event happens every Saturday, although the local musicians vary.
The session included Roland Mayer playing the fiddle, Richard Morrison on fiddle and guitar, Tanny Armstrong, Jim Lockhart, Archie Reno, Ron Jarvie, John Price, Don Stevenson and Floyd Lamereaux playing guitar, Karen Lamereaux signing, Richard Frank playing base, Nancy Reno, and Shirley Patrick playing the accordion.
Some of the songs sung and played this week were "I'll Meet You In The Morning," "Cheating Heart," "Barn Dance," "Farther Along," "Rooster Song," "I'll fly Away," and "Old Spinning Wheel."
Those listening were Jack and Audrey McDonald, Lena Miller, Dorothy Bawks, Richard Benson, Raeona Armstrong, Virgene Mc- Donald, Frank and Judy Nixon, Nancy Lockhart, Herman Campbell, John Bennin, Floyd Reno, Barbara Groover, Ed Patrick, Sarah Morrison, and Bobby and Audrey Hutchison.
Some sang along with the musicians.
