William Lambert

William Lambert
William P. Lambert of St. Ignace worked for Walker Furniture and Funeral Home in St. Ignace, retiring in 1988. He subsequently worked 10 years for the Lambert Community Health Center in St. Ignace. He was a volunteer firefighter and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Lambert died at the age of 78, Friday morning, January 25, 2008, at Mackinac Straits Hospital emergency room in St. Ignace.

He was born in Manistique December 5, 1929, to Joseph R. and Margaret (nee Isaac) Lambert Sr. He was graduated from LaSalle High School in St. Ignace with the Class of 1949, and he served in the United States Army from October 1951 to October 1953.

Mr. Lambert was a member of the St. Ignace Fire Department for more than 25 years, and he was a former member of Moose Lodge 999 and the American Legion Post of St. Ignace. He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace.

He loved playing softball in his younger years, and he also bowled for many years.

Mr. Lambert married Lois Pomeroy in St. Ignace, October 17, 1953, and she survives him.

He is also survived by a son, Tom Lambert of South Dakota; three daughters and their families, Linda Lambert and Garey Paquin of Cheboygan, Cheryl and Steve Smith of Flat Rock, and Cindy and Patrick Allers of Portage; a brother and his family, Jerry and Dorothy Lambert of Ishpeming; a sister, Peggy Thomas of Waycross, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Hunter, Nicolas, Ryan, Billy, Jodie, Tim, Eric, Terry Paul, Jessica, Garrett, Steve, and Ashlee, and six greatgrandchildren, Nevah, Gabriel, Noah, Christopher, Owen, and Harmony.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Lois Ann Olsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church. Father Allen Mott and Deacon Don Olmstead will officiate.

Visitation and parish prayers were Tuesday, January 29.

Spring burial will be in Wequeyoc Cemetery on M-134, west of Hessel.

Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorial donations can be made to the Moses Dialysis Unit at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace. Donation envelopes are available at Dodson Funeral Home.
