Barbara Kubitskey Barbara Jane (nee Hunt) Kubitskey, 82, of Naubinway, was a registered nurse who moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1985. Mrs. Kubitskey died, surrounded by her family in Farmington Hills, Monday, January 21, 2008. The daughter of the Reverend Waldo and Myrtle Hunt, she was born and grew up in the Detroit area and was graduated from the University of Michigan Nursing School in 1946. She married George Kubitskey in 1947 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Wayne. The couple lived in the Detroit area, settling in Farmington Hills, where they reared four children. Mrs. Kubitskey worked as a registered nurse at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, then at Wayne County General. She served in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She was involved in caring for her family, working at Monroe Pharmacy with her husband, and was active in Farmington Musicale, before moving to Naubinway after Mr. Kubitskey's retirement in 1985. Mrs. Kubitskey is survived by her husband; four children and their families, Judith and Terry Hamilton, Dave and Joyce Kubitskey, Paul and Wendy Kubitskey, and Martha and Tom Griffin, and eight grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Brad, Greg, Kyle, Trevor, Wendy, and Noelle. She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Hunt. Visitation was Friday, January 25, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington. Memorials may be given to Children's Hospital of Michigan. |
