Thelma Adams
Thelma Irene Adams, a resident of Cedar Cove Assisted Living Community in Cedarville, lived in Pickford most of her life. When she was in her 70s, she worked at the former Rudyard Cheese Plant, in product testing and record-keeping. Mrs. Adams was 98 years of age when she passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Cedar Cove.

She was born June 9, 1909, in Pickford, to William Henry and Mary Ann (nee Taylor) Gough. She was a Pickford High School graduate, and attended college at the Lombard School for Girls in Galesburg, Illinois.

She married Howard H. Adams July 2, 1931, in Pickford. While she reared their children, Mrs. Adams was also the bookkeeper for the farm, keeping the financial records, as well as the records of information about the animals they raised.

Mrs. Adams was active in the Pickford Church of the Nazarene, serving as a church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. She participated in the Mission Society, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and the Pickford Quilters.

She enjoyed quilting and knitting, and for many years, she knit slippers and mittens for many local children who attended Head Start preschool. Mrs. Adams also enjoyed singing, especially with her daughter, Karolyn.

Mrs. Adams is survived by two daughters and their families, Karolyn M. and Ivan Nordquist of Cedarville and Donelda J. and John Greer of Hemet, California; two sons and their families, Donald H. and Mary Adams of Au Gres and David W. and Barbara Adams of Southfield; eight grandchildren and their families, Dr. Robert and Judy Orr, Janice and Larry Wagner, Keith and Cathy Nordquist, Mike and Kim Nordquist, Kathy and Bob Mayer, Mike and Laurie Greer, John and Mindy Greer, and Deeann and Jeff Otten, and 12 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Mindy, Kelly, Heather, Richard, Emily, Bethany, Noah, Joshua, Austin, Cayla, and Kate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her son, Bruce Adams, and all of her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, and Friday, February 1, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m, at New Horizons Church of the Nazarene in Pickford.

A funeral will be Friday, February 1, at 11 a.m. at New Horizons Church of the Nazarene. The Reverend Craig Weihman will lead the service.
